This program introduces young learners to essential sketching techniques, encouraging creativity, precision, and confidence in expressing their ideas visually.

Objective

The Sketching program at Explorer’s Academy aims to:

Develop observational skills and hand-eye coordination.
Teach foundational sketching techniques and tools.
Foster creativity through quick concept visualization.
Build confidence in expressing ideas through line work and form.

Focus Area

Understanding line quality, shape, and form.
Practicing contour drawing, gesture sketching, and quick studies.
Learning proportion, perspective, and composition fundamentals.
Exploring subjects such as objects, architecture, figures, and nature.

Session

45-minute sessions, twice a week

Warm-Up (5 min): Quick gesture sketches and line exercises.
Lesson (15 min): Introduction to a technique or sketching subject.
Practice (20 min): Guided sketching activity with real or imagined references.
Wrap-Up (5 min): Feedback and discussion to enhance visual thinking.

Duration: 3 months

Introduction to sketching tools and posture.
Practicing basic lines, shapes, and contour sketching.
Sketching simple objects, animals, and natural forms.
Understanding light shading and basic textures.
Final project: Sketch a favorite object or scene using learned techniques.
